Power outages ahead: ECG’s massive July 28–29 maintenance sparks regional disruptions

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a scheduled two-day maintenance operation from Monday, July 28 to Tuesday, July 29, 2025. This exercise will affect several communities across Greater Accra, Ashanti, Tema, and Volta Regions.

Ashanti Region to experience full-day power cuts

On Tuesday, July 29, residents in Kokoben, Brofoyedru, Nkoransa, Bekwame, Buoho, Bodwesango, and nearby areas will lose power between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM due to emergency works.

Accra sees widespread outages on both days

Accra will experience planned maintenance on both July 28 and 29. Affected areas on Monday include Ablekuma Galilea, New Aplaku, Red-Top, Kings University, and Glefe.

Tuesday outages will affect Mandela, SCC, Shiabu, Tseaddo, Osu Asanka Junction, Events Avenue, and many other communities.

Tema Region hit by both planned and unplanned cuts

A tipper truck accident on July 27 disrupted power near Saki, affecting Saki, Bediako, Bethlehem, and Community 25. Planned outages on July 29 will target Potter’s City, Prampram, and Nungua Beach Road between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Volta Region faces GRIDCo bulk maintenance

GRIDCo will conduct maintenance at the Kpeve Bulk Supply Point from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on July 29. This affects Kpeve, Bame, Have Ando, Sokode, and the Ghana Water Company pumping station.

Additionally, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, residents of Tokokoe, Tanyigbe, and the 66 Artillery Training Center will experience outages due to ECG system maintenance.

Residents urged to plan ahead and stay updated

ECG has apologized for the inconvenience and advised all affected communities to make adequate arrangements.

“We appreciate your patience as we work to improve our service reliability,” ECG noted.
