Deadly Shooting in Denase Leaves Two Dead, Sparks Fear Over Contract Killing Fears
Denase, a quiet community in the Afigya Kwabre North District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, is reeling after a deadly shooting on Thursday night claimed the lives of two residents and left three others injured.
The tragic incident unfolded when multiple gunshots rang out, shattering the evening calm and sending residents scrambling for safety. The victims were rushed to Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital, where three remain under medical care.
Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene. According to several accounts, the attackers were not just firing randomly—they appeared to be hunting down specific targets.
“This wasn’t a robbery gone wrong,” said Kwabena Asamoah, Unit Committee Chairman of the Denase Electoral Area. “At least 14 shots were fired. It looked very calculated—like they were after someone specific.”
The possibility of a contract killing has not been ruled out. Although the motive remains unclear, the deliberate nature of the attack has shaken the community and revived painful memories of similar unresolved shootings in recent years.
Residents, still gripped by fear, say this is not an isolated case.
“We’ve seen this before. No one gets caught. And life just continues… until the next one happens,” one resident shared anonymously.
Police have launched an investigation, working to piece together what happened and identify those responsible. But for now, the community remains tense, with schools, shops, and local businesses operating in fear of further violence.
Calls for increased security presence and swift justice are growing louder.
