Acting NPP Chairman: Asiedu Nketia Offers NPP Advice

A humorous video has captured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, reacting to a mistake. A representative of the Mamprugu King had wrongly identified him as the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The speaker, furthermore, corrected himself. Asiedu Nketia, however, responded when he addressed the public. He humorously noted he would gladly act as the acting NPP chairman.

In the online video, he said, “Let me gladly accept the honour conferred on me as the Acting National Chairman of NPP by his majesty, the representative of the king of Mamprugu.” He then explained, “He is our grandfather, so I can’t reject any title that he confers on me.” The NDC chairman added that the title was fitting. He stated, “the NPP National Chairman comes from my place. We are brothers.”

The NDC chairman continued his humorous speech. He said, “Unfortunately, after the friendly defeat, he has gone into hiding.” As a result, he noted, “if there is somebody who should take care of his party in his absence, I have accepted that responsibility.” Asiedu Nketia, therefore, offered advice to the rival party. He stated that the NPP can reach out to him. He will, in fact, help them solve their problems. This can continue until their National Chairman, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, returns to active politics. “So, my brothers, the ‘kukrudites’, if you need any advice as to how to get out of your problems, you can come to your brother General Mosquito. I will be acting until my brother comes back to active politics or you find a befitting replacement.” The statement has since been widely shared. His lighthearted response to the misidentification has, consequently, been praised by many. His new title as acting NPP chairman has become a popular talking point.
