Immigration Officer Murder: New Evidence Fuels Intense Police Hunt

CID intensifies investigation into immigration officer murder. The suspect returns to Adabraka District Court on August 8, 2025.
COP Lydia Yaako Donkor revealed details at a press briefing in Accra. The case started after a missing person report on July 4.
Assistant Inspector Stephen King Amoah vanished after meeting Bright Aweh, also called Robert or Highest Bright. They met to settle a debt.
Police say Aweh gave Amoah GH¢500,000, telling him to pay debts and hold the rest. His story raised suspicion.
Aweh first faced kidnapping charges and appeared in Kwabenya Circuit Court on July 8.
The next day, police found a burnt body near GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate. The family identified it as Amoah.
Forensic tests revealed human blood on a bloodied fufu pestle wrapped in polythene and blood-stained camouflage fabric.
Police obtained a warrant on July 24 to search Aweh’s home. They collected more blood samples.
DNA tests involve Amoah’s mother and son to confirm the burnt body’s identity.
Police rearrested Aweh and charged him with murder. He remains in remand custody.
Family members wore red and black, demanding justice during court sessions.
A close friend, Gamel Abubakar, praised police efforts. “We hope justice will come,” he said.
The Ghana Police Service promises to catch all involved and deliver justice.
