Kwabenya Mason Jailed for Incest with Daughter

The Kwabenya mason jailed for incest has received a 10-year prison term after impregnating his 17-year-old daughter. The victim has since given birth to a seven-month-old baby.
The convict, Joshua Bledi, admitted to the offence and pleaded guilty before the Kwabenya Circuit Court. He asked for mercy, confirming the prosecution’s account as true.
The court considered his age, the premeditated nature of the act, and his guilty plea before imposing the sentence. The presiding judge stressed that such crimes require strong punishment to protect vulnerable individuals.
Chief Inspector Gershon Togbe Achondo, who led the prosecution, described the act as a cultural abomination. He warned that incest cases are increasing in Ghana and urged the court to set a deterrent example.
Investigators confirmed that Bledi, a resident of Musuku in Kwabenya, repeatedly abused his daughter after she moved in with him. The abuse continued until her pregnancy was discovered.
The case came to light when the victim delivered her baby at Ga East Hospital and struggled to pay her medical bills. Social welfare officers intervened, waived the costs, and questioned her about the father of the child. She disclosed that her biological father was responsible.
A report was immediately filed with the Kwabenya Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit. Police issued a medical report for further examination, which led to Bledi’s arrest and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Abuse Relief Corps, a non-profit organisation, has stepped in to assist the victim and her child. They have provided emotional and material support as the case draws nationwide attention.
The Kwabenya mason jailed for incest case serves as a stark warning that such acts will face swift legal consequences. Community members and advocates urge stronger measures to protect minors from abuse within their own families.
