Mahama completes lean government with new deputy ministers

Mahama has finalized his executive team by swearing in the last four deputy ministers on Thursday, August 3, 2025. This move confirms the full composition of his promised 60-member administration.
The four new appointees include Mrs. Dorcas Affo-Toffey as Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Mohammed Adam Sukparu for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah for Health.
Mahama stated that only ministries with heavy workloads and expansive oversight duties received deputies. This move, he explained, demonstrates his resolve to build a lean, focused, and purposeful government.
“This is a clear expression of our resolve to establish a new paradigm of lean, purposeful and effective government,” Mahama declared. “From the outset, I made a commitment to restore trust and discipline in public service by building a government that is not bloated but balanced, not extravagant but efficient.”
Mahama also reduced staffing at the Office of the President compared to the 336 positions under the previous administration. These staffing and budget cuts free resources now directed toward education, infrastructure, health, and energy.
On behalf of the new deputy ministers, Mohammed Adam Sukparu thanked the President. He pledged their collective support for the government’s reset agenda and policy execution.
Mahama’s final appointments seal his 60-member team, which reflects his push for efficiency, service delivery, and restored public trust.
