Oppong Nkrumah Endorses Bawumia for 2028 Race
The Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has publicly endorsed former President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He believes Dr. Bawumia can lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2028 general election. Speaking to Citi News on Thursday, August 28, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah reaffirmed his support. He spoke just ahead of Dr. Bawumia’s filing of nomination forms. This officially starts the NPP flagbearership race. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah endorses Bawumia to become the party’s next presidential candidate. This public statement, in fact, holds significant weight in the party.
He argued that Dr. Bawumia reflects the NPP’s conservative values. He also possesses the qualities needed to secure power for the party. According to the MP, a political party’s purpose is to mobilize numbers. The goal is to win power and put its ideas into government. “Today, there is one person who has come so clean,” he stated. He pointed to Dr. Bawumia’s clean track record. The former Vice President has a long history of public service. Consequently, he has an extensive track record.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most prepared candidate, most marketed across the country and most prepared in terms of his track record and pedigree to ensure that we can win 2028 and govern in 2029,” he stated. Furthermore, he embodies the character values of the conservative party. His humility, emotional intelligence, and ability to bring people together are key. These qualities make him an ideal leader. In addition, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stressed that Dr. Bawumia remains the NPP’s strongest option. He has already been widely marketed during the 2024 general election. This gives him a significant head start. In this way, Oppong Nkrumah endorses Bawumia with a strong logical argument.
The 2028 election will be a major test for the NPP. The party needs a candidate who can unite its base. He must also appeal to a broad range of voters. Oppong Nkrumah’s comments suggest Bawumia is that person. He wants to see the party’s principles reflected in its leader. Therefore, he believes Dr. Bawumia is the perfect choice. His endorsement, in conclusion, sends a strong message. It signals a major shift in the NPP’s leadership discussions.
