Jospong Group secures bail for Paul Adom-Otchere

Paul Adom-Otchere has regained his freedom after the Jospong Group of Companies stepped in to meet his bail terms. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) confirmed it had accepted a revised bail agreement proposed by his lawyers.
Adom-Otchere, who previously served as Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), had remained in custody after failing to meet initial conditions. The OSP had required him to provide two landed properties registered in his name. He told officials he owns no such property in Ghana.
His co-accused, Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah of GACL and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea of Devnest Systems, were granted bail earlier. Unlike Adom-Otchere, they met their conditions and did not face detention.
All three face investigations over a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm reportedly linked to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The OSP is examining alleged procurement breaches, including a sole-sourced contract not approved by the GACL Board.
In a post on social media, the OSP explained that the revised bail terms met the objectives of the original arrangement. Jospong Group, acting as surety, provided the necessary backing to satisfy the new terms.
Though formal charges have been filed, the OSP has not released a timeline for prosecution. The approval of new bail terms, however, suggests the investigation is progressing into a fresh phase.
Jospong Group is one of Ghana’s largest business conglomerates. It also owns Ignite Media Group, which runs Metro TV. Adom-Otchere is host of the station’s political affairs programme Good Evening Ghana.
