Thomas Partey Court Battle Begins: Charged with Rape and Assault

Thomas Partey Court Appearance Set for August 5 Amid Rape Charges

Thomas Partey court proceedings will begin on August 5, 2025, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. The Ghanaian footballer faces multiple rape charges and one count of sexual assault. Authorities filed these charges after a three-year investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The Crown Prosecution Service announced the accusations on July 4.

Partey, 32, stands accused of five counts of rape and one of sexual assault. These involve three women and incidents dating from 2021 to 2022. His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated he denies all allegations and has fully cooperated throughout the investigation. Partey welcomes the chance to clear his name in court.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy emphasized the police’s focus on supporting the complainants. He urged anyone with information to come forward. The investigation began after a rape report surfaced in February 2022.

Partey’s contract with Arsenal ended on June 30, 2025. The club confirmed his departure but declined further comment due to ongoing legal proceedings. Likewise, the Football Association and Premier League have remained silent.

The Crown Prosecution Service reminded the public to avoid prejudicing the case and respect Partey’s right to a fair trial. Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, stressed the importance of fair media coverage.

Since joining Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020, Partey has played 130 Premier League matches. He also plays a key role in Ghana’s national team with over 50 caps. The court date marks a pivotal moment in this high-profile legal battle.
