Thomas Partey Joins Villarreal After Arsenal Exit
Thomas Partey has officially joined Spanish side Villarreal as a free agent after leaving Arsenal. Partey, 32, signed a two-year contract after passing his medical, securing his stay in La Liga until 2027.

The Ghana international exited Arsenal at the end of his contract in June 2025. Over his time in North London, Partey played 167 matches, scored 9 goals, and featured in an impressive 52 games during the 2024β25 season. Known for his versatility, he operated both in midfield and as a right-back under Mikel Arteta.
While Villarreal gains an experienced and powerful midfielder for their domestic and Champions League campaigns, the transfer is not without controversy. Partey is currently facing rape charges and is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on August 5, 2025. The allegations, which he denies, first emerged in February 2022. Despite this, Villarreal proceeded with the signing, citing his experience and on-field quality.
Fans are eager to see Partey bring his Premier League experience to Spain, though reactions are mixed among Arsenal supporters. For Villarreal, this is a bold move that could strengthen their midfield and add depth to their squad.
