Global InfoAnalytics Poll Predicts NDC Win in Akwatia By-election

A new poll by Global InfoAnalytics has projected a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate. The candidate, Bernard Bediako, is running in the keenly contested Akwatia by-election. The by-election is, in fact, scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The survey was conducted between August 27 and 28. It also used a sample size of 2,050 voters across the constituency. The poll showed Bediako ahead of his closest rival. That rival is Solomon K. Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The final poll results show Bediako leading with 53%. Asumadu trails with 47%. This, therefore, places the NDC candidate in a pole position before election day. This Akwatia by-election prediction has become a major talking point.

The by-election has, in conclusion, drawn keen national interest. The passing of the late NPP MP, Ernest Kumi, on July 7, triggered the vacancy. Akwatia is a historically swing constituency. It has, in addition, alternated between the NDC and NPP over the past two decades. This, consequently, makes the upcoming contest a major test of political strength. It will, in fact, set the tone for the 2028 general elections.

Additionally, the polls noted that results reflect more than just party loyalty. Voters’ concerns about unemployment, economic hardship, and access to social amenities are, in fact, key. These have, furthermore, become defining campaign issues in the constituency.

Global InfoAnalytics added that undecided voters remain a critical factor. Their eventual choices could, after all, either consolidate Bediako’s lead or narrow the gap. This could happen in favor of the NPP’s Asumadu. Therefore, every single vote counts. The Akwatia by-election prediction may not reflect the final outcome. The by-election is expected to be closely monitored nationwide. Security agencies have, moreover, pledged a heavy deployment. Their goal is, in fact, to ensure a peaceful exercise. . This comes after incidents of electoral violence in recent months.
