OSP Summons Paul Adom-Otchere Over Audit Deal

Broadcaster warns of possible arrest

Paul Adom-Otchere, a prominent broadcaster and former GACL board chair, says the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) wants to arrest and detain him.

In a video released Thursday, he claimed multiple people had warned him that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng was planning to detain him as punishment for criticizing the OSP publicly.

“Everybody is telling me Kissi wants to arrest you and keep you for the weekend to teach you a lesson,” Adom-Otchere said.

OSP invites him for questioning

The OSP officially invited him to appear over a revenue assurance audit contract between GACL and EvaTex Logistics Limited.

A letter dated July 25 identified him as a suspect and requested his presence at the OSP’s office on July 31 at 3 p.m.

Adom-Otchere’s legal team requested a new date due to ongoing court work in Kumasi. However, the OSP refused the change, warning that failing to appear might lead to legal consequences.

He questions the contract’s timeline

According to him, the board had nothing to do with the contract in question.

He explained that the board had only discussed ways to raise revenue without committing to any audit service payments.

“I didn’t even know the contract was signed,” he stated. “EvaTex was told they would not be paid by GACL. They had to find their own funding.”

He said he only learned of the contract weeks ago when journalist Manasseh Azure contacted him.

OSP accused of media showmanship

Adom-Otchere accused the OSP of leaking documents to the media to shape public opinion before facts emerge.

“They sent the letter, then leaked it,” he said. “This is what the OSP does all the time—try to create an impression.”

He dismissed the probe as a targeted attack, not a legal inquiry. “This is about media optics and disruption. It’s not real accountability,” he said.

Despite concerns, he agrees to appear

He confirmed he will appear at the OSP today, accompanied by his lawyers.

“We’ll be there to answer questions. I’ll update the public afterward,” he stated.

Adom-Otchere reiterated his belief that the matter falls under GACL management’s responsibility and not the board he once chaired.

Final note

The growing tension between outspoken media figures and Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions raises broader questions. When criticism becomes cause for suspicion, trust erodes. As Paul Adom-Otchere walks into questioning today, the public watches not only for justice, but for fairness.

Stay alert. Follow the facts. And demand accountability from all sides.
