GAF intensifies operations in Bawku, Nalerigu, and nearby towns as part of its broader peace mission. This renewed push started on July 29, 2025, and includes both ground and aerial deployments.
According to a GAF statement released on July 31, the military is acting swiftly to eliminate threats and restore public order across the volatile region. The operation covers several conflict-prone communities, where tensions have disrupted daily life for months.
To support these efforts, the Ministry of the Interior has updated curfew hours. Previously set from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the curfew now runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Residents must comply to ensure safety and allow security forces to work efficiently.
“The Ghana Armed Forces remains fully committed to its mission to restore peace and stability,” the statement emphasized. The military also called on local leaders, residents, and institutions to support its peace strategy.
In addition, GAF issued a sharp warning to media outlets and digital creators. The military urged all bloggers, journalists, and influencers to stop posting outdated military videos that distort the reality of current operations.
“These false narratives only inflame tension,” GAF explained. “They sabotage peace efforts and mislead the public.”
The warning aligns with a rising concern over disinformation in conflict zones. The Armed Forces stressed that spreading misleading content not only endangers troops but also jeopardizes long-term peace plans.
