Ace Ankomah defamation case delivers GH₵2.95m legal victory

Ace Ankomah defamation suit: Kevin Taylor faces GH¢2.95m bill

Ace Ankomah defamation case enforcement has finally begun. After years of legal silence, the lawyer is now chasing Kevin Taylor for GH₵2.95 million. In 2020, the Accra High Court ruled in Mr Ankomah’s favour after Taylor falsely accused him of colluding with government officials to bring down Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah, known as NAM1.

Taylor made the claims in his web series ‘With All Due Respect,’ published under his Loud Silence Media brand. These videos went viral, igniting harsh reactions online and dragging Mr Ankomah’s name into controversy.

The court found the allegations outrageous and malicious. It awarded GH₵2 million in general damages, GH₵500,000 in aggravated damages, and GH₵400,000 in exemplary damages. Legal costs added GH₵50,000 to the total, bringing the bill to GH₵2.95 million.

Taylor never showed up in court. He also didn’t send legal representation. Despite his public claims of bravery and bold journalism, he failed to answer the lawsuit. This absence helped the court reach its decision swiftly.

After Taylor stayed out of Ghana for years, Mr Ankomah returned to court to request substituted service. On August 2, 2025, he published the Entry of Judgment and Penal Notice in the Daily Graphic, a major Ghanaian newspaper. This act satisfied court orders and officially notified Taylor.

Justice Kweku T. Ackaah-Boafo, who presided over the case, didn’t hold back in his judgment. He described Taylor’s conduct as spiteful, egregious, and an affront to the dignity of Ghana’s justice system. The judge confirmed Ghana’s jurisdiction since the defamatory content targeted a Ghanaian and went viral in Ghana.

The court also issued a perpetual injunction. Taylor must never repeat the claims. He must also delete all related content and publish a full apology within 14 days.

This ruling reflects a broader concern: how easily online commentators escape accountability until legal action steps in. Ghana’s courts are now setting a firm tone. The era of defamatory commentary without consequence may be ending.

Ace Ankomah has taken the first step in enforcing the court’s decision. Taylor now faces not only public scrutiny but also the weight of a binding legal judgment. Anyone planning similar attacks should take note—reckless speech has real-world costs.

In a digital age flooded with noise, truth and responsibility still matter. And now, one lawyer’s quiet persistence has sent that message loud and clear.
