Nkwanta Riot Arrest: Police, Military Seize Weapons in Crackdown

The Nkwanta riot arrest begins a bold chapter in Ghana’s effort to curb armed unrest. First, credible intelligence triggered a decisive response. Then, on August 1, 2025, at exactly 6:15 p.m., a joint Police-Military force launched a swift operation near King’s Filling Station Down.
Immediately, the team sealed off the area. Next, they searched a nearby room with precision. Inside, they found two single-barrel guns and four rounds of AAA ammunition. Clearly, these were tools of violence.
Afterward, the officers identified Francis Donkor, aged 50, as the occupant. Without delay, they arrested him. Presently, he remains in custody and assists with further investigations. Simultaneously, authorities secured the firearms as critical evidence.
Consequently, the operation demonstrated zero tolerance for weapons in conflict zones. Meanwhile, security officials urged citizens to avoid illegal firearms. Moreover, they called on communities to support safety efforts.
Since the start of unrest in Nkwanta, security agencies have stepped up enforcement. Through targeted action, they seek to restore peace and deter future violence.
Above all, citizens must reject weapons as tools of conflict. Instead, choose vigilance, cooperation, and peace. Together, we can safeguard our communities and end the cycle of violence permanently.
