Tarkwa Police arrest man with 66 parcels of narcotic drugs

Tarkwa Police arrest 23-year-old Daniel Yeboah after seizing 66 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp during a snap check at the Samreboi-Tanokrom checkpoint. The bust occurred on Wednesday, July 31, 2025, around midday. Officers flagged down a tricycle and immediately noticed two suspicious travelling bags. Inside, they discovered the tightly packed drug parcels.
Yeboah told police that a woman from Wenchi had given him the bags and promised GH¢5,000 for delivering them to Mumuni Camp, near Samreboi. He claimed he didn’t know what was inside. However, officers found that explanation unconvincing. The Western Central Police Command acted quickly. Investigators launched a full-scale manhunt to locate the woman who allegedly arranged the drug delivery.
They are urging the public to assist. “If you know anything about this woman or the case, come forward,” the police said in a statement.
Daniel Yeboah remains in custody. Police plan to arraign him in court on Monday, August 4, 2025.
This operation highlights how Ghana’s drug enforcement efforts continue to intensify. Law enforcement officers are doubling down on illegal drug trafficking routes across the country, especially in border communities and lesser-monitored transport corridors.
Authorities warn all couriers and syndicates that they will be caught. Transporting narcotics—even unknowingly—carries severe consequences under Ghanaian law.
Stay alert. Report suspicious activities. Help protect our communities from the dangers of illicit drugs.
