Western Region Police intercept robbery gang after gold shop attack

Police arrested Mohammed Adamu, 25, who was linked to the group by Abdul Rahman.

Western Region Police intercepted a robbery gang as they attempted to flee after attacking a gold buying shop at Teleku Bokazo in Esama. The armed group used AK-47 rifles and machetes to launch the assault around 5:30 pm on July 30, 2025.

After receiving a distress call, police patrol teams chased the suspects through Salman Community. During the pursuit, gunfire erupted. Officers shot Abdul Rahman, aged 34, who later died at St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Eikwe. Mohammed and other accomplices escaped.

Investigators confirmed that the robbers injured two gold shop attendants. Police later visited the hospital and identified the victims as Samuel Appiah, 29, and Kwamena Nketiah, 45. Both suffered cutlass wounds.

On August 1, 2025, police arrested Mohammed Adamu, 25. Abdul Rahman had mentioned his name before dying. Officers continue interrogating Adamu.

During a search, officers recovered seven spent AK-47 shells, eight live rounds, two BB cartridges, one empty BB shell case, and two motorbike keys.

The Western Regional Police Command assured the public of ongoing efforts to track down the remaining robbers. Police urge citizens to share any helpful information to aid in the swift arrest of all perpetrators.
