Immigration Officer Murder: Suspect Remanded Again

Immigration officer’s murder suspect remanded again as police pursue accomplices

Immigration officer murder investigation deepens as Ghana Police continue to track down accomplices in the killing of Stephen King Amoah. His burnt body was found in a drain at Ashongman Estates, sparking a nationwide outcry.

Chief Inspector Apewah Achana told the Kaneshie District Court that investigators have recovered key exhibits linked to the crime. Forensic experts will examine the items to determine their relevance. A postmortem has been conducted, although the full report is still pending.

Police requested an extension of the accused’s remand to allow more time to arrest other suspects.

On July 25, 2025, officers arraigned Bright Aweh, also known as Robert or “Highest Bright,” as the prime suspect in the immigration officer murder. The court preserved his plea after reading the charge.

Amoah vanished on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to visit Aweh at Ashongman Estates in Accra. His charred body was later discovered in a drain at Aboum Junction, near Kwabenya.

According to investigators, the men had arranged to meet after WhatsApp images showed bundles of cash, allegedly meant to settle a debt. Aweh claimed he gave Amoah GHC 500,000 to pay off a debt and keep the rest. However, inconsistencies in his account raised further suspicion.

Initially, police charged Aweh with kidnapping at the Circuit Court in Kwabenya. Subsequent searches at his home uncovered stained camouflage fabric and a bloodied fufu pestle wrapped in polythene — evidence that may prove critical in court.

The case returns to court as investigators push to bring all suspected accomplices in the immigration officer murder to justice.
