Atuabo Gas Processing Plant to undergo maintenance shutdown from August 16-30

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced the planned shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for scheduled maintenance from August 16 to August 30, 2025.

In a press release issued on Monday, August 11, the Ministry confirmed that it had approved a request from the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) to carry out the maintenance as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the facility.

The shutdown will involve a temporary suspension of gas supply during the two-week period. According to the statement, the plant will undergo critical maintenance activities including inspections, repairs, and upgrades to key equipment and systems to boost operational performance.

To avoid disruptions in electricity supply, the Ministry said it is working closely with major stakeholders in the power sector. “Comprehensive measures have been put in place to mitigate any potential impact on power supply,” the statement noted. These include the strategic use of alternative fuel sources to ensure continuous power generation across the country.

“The Ministry reaffirms its unwavering commitment to maintaining reliable power supply at all times,” the release emphasized. It added that the public will be kept informed through regular updates as the maintenance progresses.

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant plays a vital role in Ghana’s energy infrastructure, and the scheduled maintenance is part of routine efforts to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
