Do not eat Waakye – Pastor warns

Pastor warns against eating waakye after claiming divine insight about spiritual and physical danger linked to the dish. In a now-viral church service video, he told a female congregant to avoid waakye for six months. According to him, continuing would cause choking and even failed medical treatment. The warning instantly grabbed attention online, sparking both concern and debate.
The pastor rejected the hospital’s diagnosis of goiter, insisting the issue was spiritual. Moreover, he claimed the waakye seller herself carried evil intentions. He pointed to a recent incident where the woman felt pain in her leg and heat in her hand on the way to buy waakye. Based on that, she decided to stop purchasing it altogether.
Throughout the service, the pastor repeatedly said “Stop buying” in both English and Twi, using the phrase “Nipati Mauding.” He also involved the congregation with singing, clapping, and declarations of resolution. This created an atmosphere of urgency and faith. The pastor stressed that his revelation was prophetic, meant to help her avoid “unnecessary attacks and traps.”
He warned that eating the waakye again could lead to hospital visits, operations, and failure to recover. In his view, the problem was not physical alone but also tied to hidden schemes. The congregant agreed openly, affirming she would never buy from the seller again.
Reactions online range from supportive to skeptical. Supporters believe he is exposing spiritual danger. Critics argue the claims undermine medical science and promote fear. Nevertheless, the clip reflects the strong influence pastors hold in guiding everyday choices in Ghana. It also reveals how food, health, and faith often intertwine in local communities.
For now, the woman appears committed to her decision. Whether the warning changes other people’s eating habits remains to be seen. One thing is clear — the conversation about waakye, prophecy, and trust in spiritual leadership is far from over. Please don’t forget to leave a review or a comment.
