Anti-Galamsey Task Force Operation Impounds 2 Excavators
The Special Anti-galamsey task force operation continued its fight. The team is based at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region. It extended its daily operations to Juaso. Juaso is a suburb of the Asante Akim South Constituency. The team consisted of thirty-seven personnel. ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil led the group. They used six service vehicles. They, in fact, proceeded to Dwendwenase. Dwendwenase is a suburb of Juaso.
The team based the operation on intelligence reports. These reports indicated Chinese nationals had invaded the Dwendwenase Forest Reserve. The suspects, furthermore, were actively engaged in illegal mining. The task force tactically entered the area. Upon noticing the team, the suspects fled the scene. They abandoned two excavators. The task force made efforts to start the excavators. However, the team found one of them faulty. It could not start or move. The other excavator, consequently, was loaded onto a low-bed carrier.
As the team moved back to base, they received new intelligence. This new information came about a nearby village. The village is called Atta Ne Atta. An excavator operator had hidden another machine there. He hid it in a cocoa farm. The team, therefore, proceeded to the location. They impounded the excavator. The operator had disconnected some components. This made it difficult for the team to start or move the machine. However, the task force’s technical team used their expertise. The team started the excavator successfully. They subsequently loaded it onto the low-bed carrier.
Both excavators were then transported to the base at Patase. They are now in safe hands. The task force will take further action. The anti-galamsey task force operation highlights the ongoing battle. It shows the determination of authorities. They want to stop illegal mining.
