Abronye Granted Bail, Case Adjourned to October
The Accra Circuit Court has granted Abronye granted bail. Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, serves as the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP. He faces charges of publishing false news and offensive conduct. The court set his bail at GH¢50,000. It came without any justification required. This decision followed a request from his lawyers. Daniel M. Addo, his lead counsel, asked for an earlier date. In fact, he requested the court abridge the hearing date. This was due to his client’s health condition.
The court subsequently granted his request. The accused must report to the police once every week. This is one of his bail conditions. The case has been adjourned. Furthermore, the next hearing is scheduled for October 7, 2025.
The allegations against Abronye are very specific. He is accused of making false claims on a television platform. First, he allegedly stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held strategic meetings with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in attendance. Second, he is alleged to have said that the current IGP, Tetteh Yohuno, is Ghana’s “most corrupt” IGP. However, he has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Abronye now awaits his next court date. Ultimately, the court will decide his fate.
